Manchester Skateboarding Club – Starting Wednesday 6th October
We are pleased to announce that Projekts MCR will be launching the first Manchester Skateboarding Club on Wednesday 6th October 2010!
Manchester Skateboarding Club (MSC) is the first, permanent class for beginner skateboarders in Greater Manchester (at least that we know about). A great opportunity for anyone who is interested in trying skateboarding for the first time or just wants to be able to skate with confidence in a skatepark.
Here’s some useful information about the sessions:
Entrance fee- £2 per person
Age – 5-16
Equipment – Skateboards and pads are provided!
Session times: Beginners 4:30-5:30pm, Intermediate 5:30-6:30pm*
*We define a beginner as someone who can’t roll down the big flat bank yet; an intermediate as someone who can’t drop and ride confidently in the park. (This is a little subjective and will be up to the coaches to assess.)
Participants should arrive at least 15 minutes before their session begins to get their pads on.
The MSC will have two coaches encouraging participants to develop new skills and gain confidence, with the aim of either moving into the next ability group or skating in the standard sessions.
Projekts Skate Shop will also be present at the skatepark for MSC sessions, selling skateboards and equipment and offering specialist advice on what to buy for beginners.
For spectators, WiFi is available (just ask a member of staff for the code) and so is coffee, tea and hot chocolate (all from a vending machine, I’m afraid!).
We are expecting the course to be popular, so please booking in advance. This will give you or your child a better chance of getting a place in the club. To book on to the course, please email john@projektsmcr.com or, alternatively, arrive on the day and we’ll book you in there and then.

Hi,
We are wanting our nine year old to have skateboard lessons. He has some experience of ramps etc but was wondering when the best time to bring him would be? and also is here anywhere to park?
Thanks
Gail

Hi Gail,
We have beginners lessons on Sunday mornings from 10am-12pm, the 2hr session including coaching is only £5. Although we don’t have a formal carpark, we use the red tarmac area infront of the entrance to the skatepark, access to which is a bit tricky but everyone seems to manage ok. If you wanted a private session for your son, it is possible to hire the park for this, please ask if you’d like to know prices and availability.
Thanks
Tim
p.s. sorry for the late reply, we’re going through some restructuring with the aim to improve things like our website updates etc!
